MASS AWRENESS AND EDUCATIVE ACTIVITIES :
World Environment Day is observed on 5th June each year and is specially directed to students in schools. Essay competition and quizes are held and prizes given. Similar to World Environment Day, "Bihar Paryavaran Diwas" is also being celebrated on the occasion of the Chhath an important festival of this State. The Board takes the opportunity to make the general public feel that the Board is functioning to the interest of the people. Demonstration by mobile laboratories at important places, measurement of noise pollution before the public and leatures are some of the activities on this occasion. Besides, the Earth Day is also observed on 22nd April each year by the State Pollution Control Board in similar fashion. Apart from these a little over 50 seminars, symposia and work shops were organised in collaboration with State Department of Forest & Environment and other Agencies.
Pollution, whether of air, water or land is certainly not a new problem, but with the recent growth of industries and increase in population of the State, the problem of pollution is getting more and more complex. It has become increasingly clear in the recent years that if pollution goes unchecked it would result in serious and possibly irreversible damage to our enviornment.
